Moisture is moving in, and there is low pressure sitting in the gulf.
We are expecting up to five inches of rain by Saturday. Severe weather is possible Thursday. Hopefully after I get off work.
Friday night veteran storm chasers , Tim Samaras and Carl young, and Paul Samaras  were killed in the May 31st El Rino  Tornado. A record breaking 2.6 miles wide with winds at a mind blowing 297 mph. Danm that is a monster.

Cumulus clouds are a type of low-level cloud that can have noticeable vertical development and clearly defined edges. Cumulo- means "heap" in Latin.^[1] They are often described as "puffy" or "cotton-like" in appearance, and are generally less than 6,500 feet (2,000 m) in altitude, unless they are of the vertical cumulus congestus form. Cumulus clouds may appear alone, in lines, or in clusters. Cumulus clouds are often precursors of other types of clouds, such as cumulonimbus, when influenced by weather factors such as instability, moisture, and temperature gradient. Cumulus clouds are part of the larger category of cumuliform clouds, which include stratocumulus clouds, cumulonimbus clouds, cirrocumulus clouds, and altocumulus clouds.^[2]

This was The beginning of a two hour rain event. I was even honored with thunder. I missed that sound. I don't think we had one storm in September. It wasn't nothing to brag about but it helped.We might even get some more today.

Hurricane Ike is closing in on Texas, and stands poised to become one of the most damaging hurricanes of all time. Despite Ike's rated Category 2 strength, the hurricane is much larger and more powerful than Category 5 Katrina or Category 5 Rita. The storm surge from Ike could rival Katrina's, inundating a 200-mile stretch of coast from Galveston to Cameron, Louisiana with waters over 15 feet high. This massive storm surge is due to the exceptional size of Ike. According to the latest wind field estimate (Figure 1), the diameter of Ike's tropical storm and hurricane force winds are 550 and 240 miles, respectively. For comparison, Katrina numbers at landfall were 440 and 210 miles, respectively. As I discussed in yesterday's blog entry, a good measure of the storm surge potential is Integrated Kinetic Energy (IKE). Ike continues to grow larger and has intensified slightly since yesterday, and the hurricane's Integrated Kinetic Energy has increased from 134 to 149 Terajoules. This is 30% higher than Katrina's total energy at landfall. All this extra energy has gone into piling up a vast storm surge that will probably be higher than anything in recorded history along the Texas coast. Storm surge heights of 20-25 feet are possible from Galveston northwards to the Louisiana border. The Texas storm surge record is held by Hurricane Carla of 1961. Carla was a Category 4 hurricane with 145 mph winds at landfall, and drove a 10 foot or higher storm surge to a 180-mile stretch of Texas coast. A maximum storm surge of 22 feet was recorded at Port Lavaca, Texas.
This Storm could make history folks. My prayer goes out to all those who will be effect by this huge storm. There talking 50ft waves. Holy Moly! God be with them all!

Lots of rain for pasco Florida

Sunday morning delivered heavy rainfall to Pasco County. Showers developed at 10:45 pm Saturday night and began dumping showers into southwestern Pasco County. They began reporting the potential flooding problems at 11:00 pm for our area. Some of the heavy rain spread into northern and central Pinellas County Sunday morning.

Many of weather spotters reported as much as 7 inches of rain across Pasco County. Residents in Largo, Seminole and Clearwater reported as much as 2-3 inches of rainfall.

Here are some totals from the Saturday/Sunday storms.

Palm Harbor 2,67"
Largo 3,92

The rainfall was so heavy that many roads and neighborhoods could not handle that much rain in such a short period of time. These types of rain events can often be more destructive than a tropical storm or even a small hurricane.
It rained yesterday morning and this morning we awoke to even more rain. I took this picture at 645am
It looks like tonight and tomorrow morning has great potential for more rain.






Tropical Storm Bertha is out over the open Atlantic Ocean after battering Bermuda and indirectly causing one U.S. death.
The storm knocked out electricity to thousands of customers on the British tourist island.
Bermuda's weather service canceled a hurricane watch for the island late yesterday but a tropical storm watch remains in effect. There have been no reports of injuries.
Ron Smith is a carpenter who moved to Bermuda about a year ago from the English city of Stoke-on-Trent. He describes the broad storm's passage as “harrowing.”
The storm has whipped up dangerous rip currents along the U.S. East Coast from the Carolinas through southern New England. That's contributed to at least one drowning off a New Jersey beach.

Bertha is expected to re-strengthen into a hurricane today. Maximum sustained winds are currently 70-miles-per-hour.



Invest 94 is weakening and they are no longer considering it a threat.

I how ever will still be keeping an eye on it!

Summer storms

What a show we had here in the last couple evenings, It seems the the fourth of July is still going on only God is the one putting on the show. I have been trying like heck to capture a lightning shot but my camera just sucks! It just wont take rapid shots, what can u expect from a 150.00 dollar camera. I have a tripod now but it doesnt help i have tried everything. I can get sky shots at least i have that.



It looks like another round for tonight DEEP TROPICAL MOISTURE REMAINS OVER THE REGION ALONG WITH A VERY
UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE. DAYTIME HEATING WILL CAUSE NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS
TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST
FLORIDA. THE STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING VERY HEAVY
RAIN...WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH...AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. THE
HEAVY RAIN MAY CAUSE LOCALIZED FLOODING OF STREETS AND LOW LYING
AREAS. AN ISOLATED PULSE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM IS ALSO POSSIBLE.
I am think about going to rent a center to rent a better camera I really want a lightnig shot!!! I am a gold star member with them so i can rent anything i want for a week for no charge, I just might have to take advantage of that.

Good news!!!

I was at work when I took these The Cu continued to build but the west coast sea breeze kept it well to the east again no rain for us on the coast.
Today is the same set up, With strong pulse storms expected.
I have GOOD NEWS!!!! I am moving to days at my job. One of the day girls quit and i as night girl was asked to take her place. Do you know what that means???? I can start chasing these storms i see in the distance. My new schedule starts next week, the only night I work is Friday night which is great because its the busiest night of the week, my old schedule had me off that night. I am so excited!! more money, more time with my family and storm chasing wahoooo!!
I'm so happy now that I will be making more money i can upgrade the ol camera sooner then i thought!! If any one has any ideas on the best camera to get for cloud stalking please let me know.

We are into summer time patterns here in Florida this week it looks like the west coast of Florida will be seeing some rain and perhaps some strong seabreeze storms. Remember the storms pop up with little warning so about 4pm start keeping your eyes to the sky. This is what NOAA is saying:THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST
